Whitewood Farm Restoration Demonstrates Continued Success

Whitewood Farm Mitigation Bank is pleased to announce that we now have an immediate inventory of certified freshwater wetland and stream credits for projects needing required mitigation in Fauquier, Prince William, Loudon, Stafford, King George, Arlington and other areas of Northern Virginia.  See our full service area.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and VA Department of Environmental Quality (VADEQ) recently confirmed the success of riparian reestablishment efforts for this important project in northern Virginia, granting the project significant new credit releases for its environmental uplift.

Completed Year 1 and Year 2 monitoring of the Whitewood Farm Mitigation Bank have demonstrated consistent improvements for native riparian communities resultant from livestock exclusion, the successful transplant of native vegetation, and control of non-native invasive species across the many hundreds of acres within the reestablishment area. Hundreds of monitoring plot locations for the project are pre-determined each year randomly well prior to field work to monitor performance of the restoration.
